Background
It is now more important than ever to consider how our actions impact the environment. Climate change is real and we need to make behavioural changes in order to help minimise damage to our planet. There has been a shift in eco-consciousness and many people have been experiencing what is now known as ‘eco-anxiety’ due to the state of the climate emergency.
Students Suffering From Eco-Anxiety
A recent study from Sky News shows that there is an increase in demand for schools to teach more about climate change as students feel they are unable to properly contribute due to a lack of knowledge on the subject. Teachers also feel the school curriculum would benefit from including more on climate change to help children understand these topics from a younger age and take actions to help.
A Shift in Consumer Perspective
Consumers are becoming more eco-conscious and aware of the harmful effects products can have on our environment if not properly disposed of. They now need to be assured that when they are making a purchase, that the products are being designed, packaged and shipped responsibly, not only to ensure that companies are doing their bit, but themselves as consumers. Forbes magazine stated that 88% of consumers want brands to help them live sustainably.
What We are Doing to Help
We have made being eco-friendly our 2021 priority.
We are focusing on four key areas that cover how we design, develop, and deliver CPE power supplies to global OEMs and operators and improve our power supply’s eco-credentials. These four areas include:
- Design Optimisation (PSU design – energy use / size / materials usage)
- Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) Materials (eliminating the need for virgin plastics)
- Eliminating Single-Use Plastics (reduce single-use plastic consumption and source sustainable solutions)
- Sustainable Eco Packaging (use only 100% recyclable from sustainable sources)
