As European regulations evolve, power design is no longer a secondary consideration for Customer Premises Equipment (CPE). With the introduction of EU Eco-Design Regulation (EU) 2025/2052, operators and OEMs face a fundamental shift in how CPE must be powered, deployed, and sustained at scale.
The NPD45W from NetBit Electronics Ltd is designed to meet that shift head-on, purpose-built for secure, high-volume European deployment without compromising performance, reliability, or operational efficiency.
Designed for Compliance — Without Compromise
Unlike consumer USB-C chargers, the NPD45W is engineered specifically for CPE environments. It delivers full USB-C Power Delivery support while maintaining the level of robustness and performance associated with NetBit’s traditional hard-wired DC adapters commonly used in legacy CPE designs.
By aligning fully with the latest EU eco-design requirements, the NPD45W enables operators to future-proof their deployments well ahead of enforcement timelines, reducing regulatory risk across large installed bases.
High-Efficiency Power Using GaN/SiC Technology
At the heart of the NPD45W is a third-generation GaN/SiC switch-mode power supply architecture. This enables ultra-high efficiency exceeding 95% (without DC cable), helping to reduce energy losses, lower thermal stress, and support compact mechanical design.
The result is a power adapter optimised not only for electrical performance, but also for logistics — reducing shipping volume, transportation costs, and material usage across high-volume rollouts.
USB-C Power Delivery, Built for CPE
The NPD45W supports USB-C PD3.0 and PD3.1, delivering multiple output voltages — 5V, 9V, 12V, 15V, and 20V — with current ratings up to 3A@15V / 2.25A@20V. Regulation, ripple, noise control, and protection thresholds are engineered to CPE-grade standards rather than consumer charging assumptions.
This makes the NPD45W suitable for continuous operation in operator-managed environments where stability, longevity, and predictable behaviour are critical.
Built for Real-World Operator Conditions
From electrical resilience to mechanical durability, the NPD45W is designed to perform reliably in real-world deployments. It supports a wide AC input range, low no-load power consumption, controlled start-up behaviour, and robust protection mechanisms including over-voltage and over-current protection.
Acoustic performance is tightly controlled, enclosure temperatures are specified across the entire range of operating conditions, common mode noise levels are minimised and the unit is tested against high standard for drop and impact, all of which supports large-scale field deployment without service calls or truck rolls.
Optimised for Modern CPE Applications
The NPD45W is suitable for a wide range of CPE platforms, including:
- Set-top boxes and PVRs (cable, satellite, hybrid/IP)
- Gateways supporting DSL, DOCSIS 3.0 / 3.1/4.0, and G-PON
- Wi-Fi 7/8 routers and extenders
This flexibility allows operators and OEMs to standardise power across multiple device categories while remaining compliant with evolving EU and global requirements.
Sustainability by Design
Environmental performance is integral to the NPD45W design. The adapter is RoHS 2.0 compliant, halogen-free (option), lead free (option) and manufactured using a minimum of 50% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastics, with 90% PCR available as an option.
It is certified to recognised international safety, EMC, environmental and Eco-design standards including EU Eco-Design Regulation (EU) 2025/2052 supporting responsible deployment across European markets.
Customisation for Operator and OEM Needs
The NPD45W platform can be tailored to meet specific application requirements, including customised output profiles, enhanced open-neutral protection, bespoke labelling or branding, and PLT/QLN compliance options.
