The frequent and dramatic images of plastic waste in our newsfeeds has no doubt raised the public consciousness towards its impacts on biodiversity and effect on climate change, it’s fair to say that plastic usage has become an increasing global concern. This article looks at plastic, its connection to C02, and what NetBit is doing to be more eco-friendly.

The economic viability of the European and global plastics recycling market is currently under fire. With a lower demand for recycled plastics, the efforts of Europe’s municipalities to manage their waste practices sustainably have become complicated. Moreover, as a result, less desirable waste disposal options are being used for high quantities of plastic waste.
According to CIEL (Center for International Environmental Law): “If plastic production and use grow as currently planned, by 2030, these emissions could reach 1.34 gigatons per year—equivalent to the emissions released by more than 295 new 500-megawatt coal-fired power plants. By 2050, the cumulation of these greenhouse gas emissions from plastic could reach over 56 gigatons—10–13 percent of the entire remaining carbon budget.”
What Is NetBit Doing to help reduce plastics?
Being eco-friendly has been our 2021 priority.
We are focusing on multiple areas that cover how we design, develop, and deliver CPE power supplies to global OEMs and operators and improve our power supply’s eco-credentials. Two of our focus areas specifically target plastic usage:
- The increasing use of Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) Materials in the manufacture of our power supplies (reducing the need for virgin plastics)
- Eliminating Single-Use Plastics in our product packaging, specifically protective PE bags and plastic cable ties.
- Sustainable Eco Packaging (use only 100% recyclable from sustainable sources)
