2020 is set to be another exciting year of innovation in CPE with next generation silicon and wireless technologies that are set to deliver brand new customer experiences and services. 2020 is also going to be a critical year for the industry for reducing and eliminating single-use plastics (SUPs) in the packaging of CPE products.
In recent months attention has been focused on the amount of plastic waste that is amassing at alarming rates in our environment. For example, UK operator Sky highlighted in their Sky Ocean Rescue campaign the serious risks that plastic pollution is causing in our seas from plastic products and packaging designed for one-time use only.
In 2017 Sky committed to eliminating SUPs in their products and supply chain by this year. Other leading CPE operators and OEMs are likely to make similar pledges. We are working with our customers to help eliminate SUP from the entire shipping chain from our factory to our customer’s EMS factory, and then onward to their end-customers.
We will be sharing more on this initiative over the coming months. In the meantime, if you’d like to discuss this with us in more detail please get in touch with your local sales consultant or email us at sales@netbit.com.
