NetBit is proud to announce a major advancement in sustainable electronics: the successful development of a fully lead-free, SCIP-compliant power supply unit. Our new 36W model features customized lead-free components, including the bridge, diode, MOSFET, and chip resistors, all designed to meet stringent environmental standards—setting a new benchmark for the industry.
Meeting SCIP-Free Requirements
This innovation was driven in part by our collaboration with a major European Operator, who sought a lead-free PSU to avoid mandatory reporting in the SCIP database—a requirement under the EU Waste Framework Directive 2008/98/EC. The directive, effective since 4 July 2018, mandates that any product containing more than 0.1% SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern) must be registered in the SCIP (Substances of Concern In articles as such or in complex objects (Products)) database and notified via the ECHA portal.

Industry-First: No Lead at Any Level
While some manufacturers have removed surface-level lead, NetBit is the first company to engineer a PSU completely free of lead across all internal components—not just coatings. This includes custom-designed, lead-free alternatives for key parts such as the bridge, diode, MOSFET, and chip resistors.
We’ve already completed the pilot production run, and the PSU is currently under qualification with our customer. We anticipate mass production to begin in Q4, bringing this sustainable solution to a wider market.
Scalable, Sustainable Innovation
The design framework established for this 36W PSU can be readily adapted to other models, allowing for widespread deployment of SCIP-compliant, lead-free PSUs across NetBit’s product range.
